Giving

2 Corinthians 9:7 - "Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." (ESV)

At the heart of Christian living is the act of giving. Through Jesus Christ, our Heavenly Father GAVE us the GIFT of Salvation. We are called to GIVE the Gospel Message to everyone wherever we go. And Scripture teaches to GIVE faithfully to support the church and accomplish ministry among those in need. It is no surprise that in Acts 11:19-30, the brand new believers in the new Church of Antioch were called immediately to excersize this discipline by GIVING to the Church in need in Jerusalem. Let's faithfully carry out the command of Christ and GIVE.

Here are some ways that you can give at Canadian Valley Baptist Church.

1. REGULAR TITHES and/or OFFERINGS - You may have heard us use the word "Tithe." The tithe is literally "a tenth" (or 10%) and is one of the ways God's people are called to give. Malachi 3:10 says, "Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need."

Here are a quick couple things that your "regular offering" should try to do.

     1. Give consistantly - When we make giving a Christian discipline, we are saying that it is important and that it is something that should happen regardless of other circumstances in my life. "I trust and believe God enough that I will be faithful because God is also faithful to me."

     2. Give sacrficially - We mentioned the 10% and sometimes that can be hard. But when we give that way, it allows God to demonstrate just how awesome he is. Strive your hardest to give a Tithe, and for some that is just a starting place. As God blesses them, they then give even more than 10%.

     3. Give cheerfully - "God loves a cheerful giver"... Scripture also talks about how Christians give eagerly and enthusiastically in 2 Corinthians 9. When a Christian is fully devoted to the work of the Lord and desires to be used, their giving can become a beautiful and joyful thing.

     4. Give offerings - Offerings are seen in Scripture as seperate from and in addition to tithes. Whereas a tithe is based on your income/increase, offering is giving above and beyond for special needs, worship, and ministry. Giving offerings should also be practiced by Christians.

You can give regularly at Canadian Valley Baptist Church by giving a check or cash in the offering during Sunday School or regular worship times. You can also mail it in or hand deliver it during office hours. You may also give electronically through E-GIVING.

Canadian Valley Baptist Church is a registered non-profit 501(c)3 member church.
Your donations are tax-deductible.

2. MICROGIVING/OTHER GIVING - Another way that you can give to Canadian Valley is called "microgiving".

There is an online program provided by the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma called "MUSTARDSEED". When you connect a credit or debit card with this secure online service, it allows you to "roundup" every purchase you make to the nearest dollar and give it to our church or another charitable organization. For instance if you spend $7.89 at Chick-fil-a, 11 cents would be marked to give to the charity, and at the end of the month, your "roundups" would be sent through the Foundation.
